HOPES are high more volunteers could come together to organise a Christmas lights switch-on in Tullibody next year.

A tree and lights at Tron Court are helping to get people into the Christmas spirit, but unfortunately there will not be an official event due to a lack of volunteers to organise it.

While they were unable to organise a proper switch-on, Pauline Macnaughtan and Janice Muir at Tullibody Events are hoping to do so next year if they can bring in a couple of extra helping hands.

Tullibody Events organised a successful switch-on last year and Pauline expressed disappointment the town won't get to enjoy it together this time around.

The tree and lights, which went up on Monday November 25, were funded by a generous donation from the town's Co-op and thanks go to Hamilton & Brydie, Graeme Hunter Plumbing & Heating as well as staff from Clackmannanshire Council for putting it up.

Pauline explained that while there were a handful of people to help organise last year, a few people getting too busy or becoming unavailable can throw the spanner in the works.

A social media post on the Tulibody Events Facebook page confirmed earlier: "We are deeply sorry but all events till the end of the year are now cancelled.

"We do not have enough volunteers and the ones we do have are being run into the ground trying to keep things going."

There is fresh hope for next year, however, as Pauline revealed some people have expressed an interest in helping out since.
