SAUCHIE turned on its Christmas lights last weekend as a huge crowd came to start the Christmas countdown.

Santa and some of his reindeer were in attendance as the lights were turned on last Sunday, December 1 at Mar Place.

Hampers were one of many prizes on offer in the raffle and Santa brought a sack full of selection boxes for children who came to visit him.

The youngsters also had the opportunity to feed the reindeer.

Tea and coffee were served for adults and there was also face painting, balloons, a magician and a tea cup ride for the kids.

Attendees were also treated to a mix of music provided by samba band Beats of Brazil and Alana Johnson.

Sandra Gruar, general manager of Sauchie community group Active 8 who organise the event every year, was thrilled with this year's turnout.

She said: "It was really good and really busy, busier than last year.

"Santa was great and the kids loved feeding the reindeers."

Local police also made an appearance and the kids – and some adults – had a great time posing for pictures inside their van while they were posing with the reindeer.

Sandra and all at Active 8 want to say a huge thank you to everybody who attended the event and to all the performers and volunteers who helped make it such a great day.
