THE catering team at Lornshill Academy has recently been recognised as one of the best food safety teams in Scotland.
The team was recently awarded the Food Standards Agency Eat Safe Award in recognition of excellence in food hygiene and food safety management.
This award was introduced by the Food Standards Agency as a way of recognising organisations which go above and beyond the requirements of current legislation and meet the highest standards of food hygiene.
Marie Smith, manager of the team, and her crew have worked hard to maintain an excellent hygiene standard, and the council’s environmental health team praised them for the hard work and effort put into achieving this award.
The team’s Eat Safe Award status will be displayed online at the Food Standards agency’s food hygiene information scheme website food.gov.uk/ratings
This site tells the public how well premises did at their last food hygiene inspection.
Results for more than 29,000 businesses across Scotland can be accessed online, so any member of the public can check the results for their favourite restaurant or takeaway.
