THIS year's Clackmannanshire Secondary Schools Dance competition was hosted at Lornshill Academy as acts from the Wee County's secondary schools competed for prizes.

The competition, in its sixth year, took place recently with Alva Academy taking the trophies home in all three categories.

The first of the three categories was junior small which was contested by acts with two to six dancers from first to third year pupils.

It was won by In My Head, a duo from Alva Academy, with second place going to Lornshill Academy's Diamond Girls.

The junior large category was for first to third year pupils consisting of groups with seven or more dancers and was won by Alva Academy's Schuyler Sisters with second place going to Friend Like Me from the same school.

The final category was senior and was made up of pupils from fourth to sixth year in both small and large groups, with Alva Academy the winners again as Lunch Bunch took the plaudits.

All the acts were judged by a panel made up of Zoe Thomson, dance development officer and director of CarpeDiemDance, and sports development manager Marjorie MacFarlane.

Nineteen acts represented Alloa, Alva and Lornshill academies and they performed dance routines that lasted a maximum of two minutes in length and were fully choreographed by the dancers themselves.
