DOZENS of carers attended a specially arranged Christmas lunch last week to thank them for the great work they do.

The Falkirk and Clackmannanshire Carers Centre organised two lunches for their staff last week, with one taking place in Alloa's Dunmar House Hotel and the other in Falkirk's Grange Hotel.

In total, 31 carers attended the Wee County version where they were treated to a full three-course Christmas lunch before the entertainment took over.

There was the traditional quiz before a fantastic raffle which guaranteed everyone went home with a gift to open.

One carer commented that the carer centre events are "my only social occasions of the year and mean so much," as everyone enjoyed the chance to meet with like-minded individuals.

Nicola Weedon, adult service lead in Clacks, told the Advertiser that everyone had a great time at the event.

She said: "I thanked the carers for attending our events through the year and donating to the Carers Centre's fundraising activities. Carers told us how much they appreciate the events and everything that the team does."

A carer is anyone who helps to look after a partner, child, relative or friend who couldn't manage without your help due to disability, illness, addiction or frailty.

The aim of Falkirk & Clackmannanshire Carers Centre is to ensure that carers of all ages are recognised, valued, receive the information and support they need to allow them to care with confidence and in good health, and are empowered to have a life of their own outside caring.
