THE WEE County's Johnny Lee Memphis is gearing up for his biggest show on home soil as he takes his Elvis Presley tribute act to Glasgow's SEC Armadillo this month.

Johnny, crowned European Elvis Champion in 2014, has performed his act all over the world and will play in Glasgow on January 31, 2020.

Hailing from Coalsnaughton, Johnny is a well-known and much respected performer and was crowned the sixth-best Elvis tribute act in the world in 2015.

Speaking to the Advertiser, he said how much he's looking forward to the show.

The singer added: "It's the biggest show of my life. It'll be around three times as many people as in my biggest gig."

Despite the SEC gig being the biggest of his career, Johnny is remaining calm and is treating it like any other show.

"I know all the songs, so the preparations are the same," he said.

In a step-up from his previous shows, this performance will have huge projectors showing clips of the King as Johnny performs.

Johnny warmed up with his yearly local gig at the Johnstone Arms in Alva on Christmas Eve in what is always a poignant night for him.

His father passed away on December 19, 2008 and his funeral took place the day before Christmas.

Johnny will be performing in the Absolute Elvis Show along with world-class musicians the JLM Band, the Graceland horns and the Memphis belles.

The show is a two-hour spectacular tribute to Elvis during the concert years from 1969 to 1977, showcasing the most exquisite costumes.

One costume was made by the same pair of hands that created Elvis' classic jumpsuits and Johnny will be donning them all as he performs the King's signature moves.

Johnny has performed his tribute act worldwide including America, China, Australia and various European countries.

In 2012 he was invited to sing for the Queen as part of the Jubilee celebrations in Glasgow's George Square.

Two years earlier he won the Elvis World Cup Title and he also won the Penticton BC Ultimate Elvis competition in 2015.
