A PLAN to build more than 60 houses near a former mine in the Wee County has been submitted to Clacks Council.

The England-based property developer MCR Property Group lodged its proposal with the local authority late last year, and is now awaiting a final decision from the council.

According to documents, the company wants to erect a total of "67 dwellings with roads, parking, landscaping and associated works" near Dollar.

The exact location of the proposed development is the 15.79hectare former Solsgirth Mine site.

MCR Property Group acquired the area of land in question last year, and has planned to turn it into a residential development for some time.

Speaking after the acquisition, the company's asset manager, Gregor King, said: "The attractive county town of Dollar is a popular residential area thanks to its high performing independent school, Dollar Academy, tranquil setting and enviable commuter links.

"We're working closely with local planners on a strong vision for the site to create new homes that fully integrate with their stunning surroundings."
