THE deadline for nominations for the Clacks Sports Council annual awards is fast approaching.

Nominations will close on Thursday, January 30 ahead of the awards at the Alloa town hall on Thursday, March 12.

The awards are always well supported by the sporting community in the Wee County and nominations are now open for individuals and teams in the 13 categories available.

Last year saw a record number of entries and delivered a great evening celebrating sporting achievements from teams, athletes, coaches and unsung heroes.

This year the aim is to deliver an even better awards ceremony this year and organisers are searching the country for an inspirational speaker to attend and provide an insight into their individual sporting journey.

Mia Mitchell, who won the young leader/volunteer award at last year’s ceremony, will help to present the awards.

Even if people are not competing at national or international level they can still be nominated and recognised for their contribution to sport and physical activity in Clackmannanshire.

Within the Triumph over Adversity category individuals can be nominated for their participation in Sport and or physical activity and coaches who help deliver programmes that are not competitive but more social can also be nominated.

Young leaders and volunteers can be nominated for their contribution to a local sports club or delivering sports or physical activity in schools.

Those who don’t take part in sport but help behind the scenes with washing the kit, holding fund raising events, doing the administration or booking parks they can still be nominated for their services to sport or lifetime contribution to sport.

To nominate someone ahead of the deadline on January 30, contact active communities officer Kenny Cook on 01259 452334 or e-mail kcook@clacks.gov.uk for more information or nomination forms.
