ALLOA’s New Look will be closing its doors at the end of next month.

A post on the store’s Facebook page last Friday, January 24, stated that the store had a sale on everything and was set to close at the end of next month.

When contacted by the Advertiser, a New Look spokesperson confirmed the news and the store’s closing date of February 27.

New Look has been a staple of Alloa’s town centre for more than 15 years. It was situated on the former site of the Co-op and has been a mainstay in the town while other stores around it closed.

Little Greens, a store on Mill Road, closed last year after Eros Retail who ran the store cited rising costs and the decline of high street business for the closure.

When further questioned for details on what will happen to the store’s staff, New Look were unable to provide any information except to reiterate the closing date.

On November 12 last year, New Look posted their financial headlines which showed statutory loss before tax improved by £30.7 million.

Nigel Oddy, chief operating officer, said at the time: “New Look’s localness – the convenience of our stores – is a key differentiator that we will continue to capitalise on.”

The store is now having a clearance sale to get rid of stock ahead of next month's closure with all items reduced to clear.
