PEOPLE are being invited to pick their favourite suggestions and help name the Stirling Land Train.

Six imaginative names have been shortlisted in the competition by operators Go Forth Stirling BID with the final shortlist going to a public vote.

They are: The Wallace Wanderer, Mary Train of Scots, Robbie ColTrain, Choo Choo McGoo, Liam the Land Train and The Forth Flyer – picked from 121 entries.

Mags Fenner, project manager, and drive Craig O’Brian were among the Go Forth staff considering all entries and ultimately whittling them down to the final six.

Ms Fenner said: “We were delighted by the number of entries we had to the competition and the wide range of names youngsters came up with.

“It was hard to narrow it down to six, but we feel these final names represented the different types of entries we had well and any one of them would be amazing for the land train’s new name.

“I hope lots of people will have fun voting for the final name and look forward to discovering what name everyone thinks best suits our land train.”

The vote will run until February 21 and the winning name will be announced by the end of the month.

On the line is the main prize for a child whose suggestion will be picked – they will have the chance to attend a relaunch and naming ceremony along with a family day out in Stirling.

All six youngsters whose suggestions made it to the shortlist will also receive certificates and a family trip on the land train.
