WITH the recent inclement weather in mind, a Wee County advice service is looking to ensure locals are able to heat their homes efficiently.

While Storms Ciara and Dennis have stopped ravaging the country, unsettled weather conditions are expected to continue with spells of rain, possibly hail and thunder, with gales and winds easing for a time but temperatures still on the cold side.

And so Clackmannanshire Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) is highlighting its one-to-one, tailored energy sessions, which help people understand their energy usage and bills.

Volunteers and staff are able to explore what entitlements may be available for an individual, for instance the warm home discount.

The experts can also advise people on how to save money by switching supplier along with other tips and can assist with referrals to Home Energy Scotland, which could even help unlock funding through Warmer Homes to provide insulation and more.

Evelyn Anderson, general services co-ordinator at Clacks CAB, said: "We want to empower people to deal with their energy bills more effectively, assist those in fuel debt to negotiate with suppliers and offer help with applications for individual grants, where appropriate.

"We aim to help reduce fuel poverty in this area by making energy consumers energy aware."

Drop-in sessions are available between Mondays and Thursdays, 10am to 3pm, and 9am to 2pm on Fridays – ask to speak to an energy adviser.

Alternatively, call 01259 219 404 to arrange an appointment.

The local CAB has been providing advice as an independent charity for more than 50 years with a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, visit clackscab.org.uk for more.
