WINTRY weather continues to batter the Wee County after the River Devon burst its banks at the weekend.

The Met Office issued yellow warnings for ice and snow in the wider area for today with possible travel delays expected.

The weekend has seen some flood prone roads closed due to rising levels of water in the Devon while it is understood volunteers of the Tillicoultry, Devonside and Coalsnaughton Flood Group (Tideco) were out to monitor water levels on Saturday, February 22, and to sandbag property, following a flood warning in the area of Sterling Mills.

There are currently no flood warnings issued for the area by SEPA and it is understood Menstrie Burn remained below action levels with Menstrie Community Resilience Group members monitoring the water via the RiverTrack system.

It is understood a flood warning was also in place for the industrial estate in Menstrie on Friday.

Both groups had been called into action last week.

According to the Met Office, the Wee County will continue to see a mix of heavy rain, sleet and snow into this evening, but conditions are looking to improve with a much smaller chance for precipitation tomorrow.

Looking further ahead, Wednesday could even see some sunny intervals while the rain might return Friday evening into Saturday morning.
