THE inclement weather was not with Connect Alloa at the weekend, but there was plenty of energy and enthusiasm when they put on a community exhibition.

Despite the heavy rain and the Devon flooding, nearly 50 people went through the door at St Mungo's Parish Church in Alloa where the charity hosted the event to showcase what it and other groups have to offer.

Organisations which were set to hold stalls included Resonate Together, Wee County Veterans, Hawkhill Community Centre, Reachout With Arts in Mind as well as Falkirk and Clackmannanshire Carers.

While some could not make it due to the horrendous weather and traffic disruptions, there was still an opportunity to gain new volunteers and for service users to hear what is on offer in the first event of its kind for the youth charity.

Dave Crozier, the man behind Connect Alloa, said: "The weather was against us on the day, but the enthusiasm and energy from the Connect Alloa team was fantastic.

"Everyone just kept the energy levels really high and made it a great day to enjoy.

"Although the numbers may not have been as high as I'd have liked, the people who attended really made the day great.

"We hope to evaluate how it went shortly, learn from it and make it bigger and better next time.

"You can plan all you want but you can't predict the weather – that didn't stop 46 people coming along still and being involved.

"The whole Connect Alloa team were great and all took on roles that were needed and we even interviewed three new volunteers.

"It was a great first exhibition, next time will, hopefully, be even more successful."
