GBX host George Bowie hasn't let coronavirus stop him as he treated fans to a live set from his balcony. 

The Clyde 1 presenter was praised for doing "lockdown Glasgow style" as he blared dance tunes from his West End home for a live stream on Facebook.

He went live on his official GBX Dance Anthems page around 7pm yesterday and had listeners tuning in from around the world.

He said: "Just about to go live from my balcony with a GBX set since we can't play any clubs for a while."

George, 52, is a familiar voice in Glasgow thanks to his long-running breakfast show and popular GBX Dance Anthems show and club nights.

Kicking it off, he said: "We're live from my balcony. Alright we’re doing it, we’re dropping some GBX anthems. Here we go.

"I don’t know how long until we get closed down but we’ll keep going."

During the live broadcast, the DJ gave shout-outs to fans tuning in and kept listeners up to date with stories about his wife Ellen who had been “cleaning their flat all day in preparation”.

The show attracted live viewers from the neighbouring flats.

George said during the broadcast: “Big shout out to the people watching from the window across the road, hope you're enjoying the party!"

Kind-hearted George has gained a reputation for his good deeds during his 25 years on the air.

We told how he surprised one of his biggest GBX fans in January and even gave her a special shoutout on his show.

The popular Clyde 1 personality showed his appreciation for 52-year-old Janet Leach by popping in to see her at the Ashgill Care Home in Milton.

The radio star's latest efforts came as the government encouraged the public to undertake social distancing to stop the spread of the deadly bug.

People have been advised to avoid restaurants, pubs and cinemas to reduce the chance of contamination and to stay at home when possible.
