PEOPLE experiencing coronavirus symptoms in the Wee County are being asked to double bag personal waste and store it inside for three days before putting it in the bin.

The advice comes from Clackmannanshire Council with staff working hard to keep services going where possible.

Those with virus symptoms as well as others in the same household are kindly being asked to store personal waste such as used tissues and disposable cleaning cloths securely within a disposable waste bag.

They are then asked to bag it again with a secure tie or seal and keep it separate from other waste for at least 72 hours inside the property before it is being put into the non-recyclables green waste bin.

The council says other household waste can be disposed of as normal.

Bin uplifts is one key service the council hopes to keep operating with contingency plans being put in place to tackle any staff shortages.

Green bins should be presented for collection for 6.30am in the morning as there may be changes to collection times.

Plans are to also keep collecting blue bins, brown bins for those with permits, and food waste as normal – all should be out by 6.30am.

Communal bin services are running while assisted collections are also going, but it is not possible to process new applications at this time.

Plans are to process bulk uplift requests as normal and hope are to empty glass banks regularly.

The Forthbank Waste Recycling Centre is closed until further notice, in line with government guidance.

Commercial waste collections will be suspended if the business is closed, customers will be contacted individually for clarification.

There is a reduced street cleaning service, which includes sweeping and litter bin emptying so the local authority is asking people to take litter and dog waste home if possible.
