CHURCHES and congregations in the Wee County are embracing technology to keep services going during the coronavirus lockdown.

As many adjust to not being able to deliver regular Sunday morning worship within the church building itself, ministers are looking to provide spiritual guidance on the internet.

Alva Parish Church is one to make the switch, with services appearing on alvaparishchurch.org.uk, Facebook and YouTube.

And it has been a huge success too, Rev Jim McNeil's children's talk (pictured) on Facebook recently drawing 1,500 viewers – 10 times the number that would usually be watching in church.

Not everyone has internet access, however, so Rev McNeil along with his team, including associate minister Rev Anne Shearer and probationary minister John Gow, have taken the extra step to provide services on a dedicated phone line.

Worshippers can dial 01259 606303 and hear the most up to date service.

John Gow said: "If you can't see us then at least you can hear us.

"The church's doors may be temporarily closed, but god's word is still open to everyone."
