NEARLY 300 laptops have been delivered to students of Fife College to support remote learning during the coronavirus outbreak.

The devices are being dropped off at homes of college students while adhering to social distancing rules, not just in Fife but further afield, including in the Wee County, Tayside, Perth and Kinross and even Edinburgh.

With the nation under lockdown, remote teaching has become part of everyday life for students and lecturers, the latter utilising a number of online resources and platforms.

Kris Getchell, chief information officer at the college, said: “We are absolutely committed to helping students continue their courses during these uncertain times.

“Working with our area’s academic teams we were able to identify a number of students who required additional equipment to allow them to study from home and we are delighted to be able to drop off these devices at their homes.

“The health and wellbeing of our students and their continuing learning remains paramount.

“We will continue to do everything we can to support them – from ensuring they have the resources they need to study at home to sharing the latest information and advice.”

A dedicated student information page has also been set up to support learners during this difficult time.

It contains a number of helpful guides and links to aid remote learning, visit fife.ac.uk/coronavirus-update for more.
