A RANGE of measures have been implemented at a shop in the Hillfoots to help the vulnerable and self-isolating in the community.

Greens of Tillicoultry is offering free home delivery for people over 60, those at high risk of contracting coronavirus and people in self-isolation.

It is also working closely with struggling businesses to benefit the community together and combat Covid-19.

The shop has taken on people who lost their jobs as a result of the outbreak and it introduced free coffee for all NHS and emergency services staff until further notice.

Greens also arranged for bakery partners Fisher & Donaldson to bag flour into 1kg bags for local customers.

Bosses also placed an order with Fife's John Henderson Meat Specialists, whose supply to high-end hotels and restaurants collapsed in the wake of the lockdown.

And they brought forward a pay increase by two weeks with further bonuses planned for staff along with free coffees and discretionary food budgets.

Harris Aslam, managing director, said: "Our amazing team has been working round the clock to deliver hundreds of packages of groceries and other household essentials which had been ordered online in the past weeks.

"I want to congratulate a Scottish, family-owned business that is really going above and beyond to support us during these times: the award-winning Fisher & Donaldson bakers.

"Despite taking the difficult decision to temporarily close their own stores, these legends have continued to bake away the freshest quality bakery products for our customers and community in Tillicoultry."

Furthermore, Fisher & Donaldson managed to start producing self-raising and plain flour and yeast in the matter of just two hours.

This something not usually produced or sold on shelves, added Mr Aslam.
