STAFF at Forth Valley Royal Hospital marked the 75th anniversary of VE Day with a special song recorded by the Nurses Choir.

Key workers joined the national two minute's silence before singing along with a virtual performance of We'll Meet Again.

The performance was specifically recorded and put together for the occasion by the NHS Forth Valley Nurses Choir.

It came shortly before International Nurses Day as well, which was marked yesterday (Tuesday, May 12).

The recording was later shared on the NHS Forth Valley YouTube page with an introduction from Professor Angela Wallace, director of nursing.

In the video, Professor Wallace said: "When you are a nurse, you know that every day you will touch a life or a life will touch yours.

"Lest we forget.

"As we pay tribute to VE Day on May 8, we pay tribute to those who have given their lives so that we may have a safe future.

"Not only a safe future, but quite a different world full of possibilities and progress, much more than those who fought for us could ever have imagined."

She added: "We are all reminded of the selflessness, bravery and courage that nurses shared with the men and women who fought for and gave so much for this precious victory and for a world that owes such and enduring debt."
