A GROUP working tirelessly to help Glaswegians through the COVID-19 crisis has signed up 2000 volunteers.
Glasgow Mutual Aid was formed in March by a team of key workers, students and activists keen to build a network to support community efforts across the city.
The group has been delivering food parcels and prescriptions, helping with shopping, walking dogs, offering mental health support and signposting to other services.
Group member Henry Bell said: “It’s been really inspiring to see thousands of volunteers from Glasgow providing aid to people who might be struggling to access basic supplies or support. GMA is not a charity but a network of Glaswegians and has no directors or bosses. We work together to demonstrate that support and solidarity are best delivered in and by local communities.”
“So far, volunteers have attended to more than 400 requests for help, and prepared and distributed hundreds of food parcels.”
