A GYMNASTICS coach has developed a free online programme aimed at keeping young people active during the coronavirus pandemic.

Alloa's Chris Chalk hopes his online classes will be used by gymnasts and members of the public.

The classes are available on Youtube, and focus on developing strength and flexibility.

They consist of a warm-up, stretching, flexibility, conditioning as well as a daily challenge and a weekend challenge aimed at getting the whole family involved.

Chris has also liaised with two of Great Britain's most renowned gymnastics choreographers to develop a fun and highly important aspect of his programme which focuses on leap, jumps and artistry.

As well as the Youtube sessions, Chris will also be adding Live Zoom sessions from June 1.

Those sessions will focus on abs on Monday, flexibility and artistry on Tuesday, bar and beam prep on Wednesday, and floor and vault prep on Thursday.

Chris is the head coach at Central Gymnastics Academy in Stirling, and has always created training groups so gymnasts can video call each other in-order to train together, as well as setting weekly tasks and developing a reward chart for parents to use to help keep people motivated.
