A CITY theatre has announced its panto will not go ahead this Christmas because of Covid-19 uncertainty.
The Tron’s version of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz will now be staged in 2021 instead.
Executive director and joint chief executive Sam Gough said the decision was “hugely disappointing” but added the team “simply can’t deliver the magic of a Tron panto under the current circumstances.”
He added: “To do so would not only be financially irresponsible but also detrimental to the very special brand of panto we are known and loved for.”
The theatre said its festive show “needs to be enjoyed in a packed auditorium”, and it would be “short-changing audiences if we were to deliver anything other than our usual panto experience”.
Refunds and other opportunities are available.
