A TILLICOULTRY man has been remanded in custody after armed police were called to the town last week.
Chris Mcara appeared from custody at Falkirk Sheriff Court on Monday, June 1.
The 31-year-old faced five charges: one of having a bladed article in public, three of threatening or abusive behaviour, and one of racially aggravated harassment.
During the court appearance, he made no plea and was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.
He is expected to appear in court again in the coming days.
This follows an incident in Chapelle Crescent on Friday, May 29, which saw armed police attend at the scene.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland told the Advertiser after the incident: "We received a report of a man in possession of a machete in Chapelle Crescent.
"Officers attended, the man was traced and significant damage was caused to a police van.
"A Taser was discharged by specialist firearms officers. The Scottish Ambulance Service attended but nobody was seriously injured.
"As is standard procedure, the matter will be referred to the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner."
