A DOG that plunged 30ft down an embankment in Dollar was rescued after emergency services dispatched 10 vehicles to the scene.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) was called to the incident on Castle Road just after 10.30am on Thursday, June 4.

One local posted on social media that he had seen eight fire engines travelling through the town towards Castle Campbell around that time

And the SFRS has confirmed to the Advertiser it ended up sending a total of 10 specialist appliances – such as fire engines and other vehicles – to the incident.

This was due to the location the dog was in, as it required rope rescue and water teams to help bring it out of the embankment and back to safety.

A spokesperson for the SFRS added that the dog was successfully rescued from the embankment by emergency services, and handed back to its owner.
