PARK PRIMARY pupils were all treated to a sports package full of goodies ahead of their virtual sports week this week.

All pupils at the Alloa school were surprised by staff, who stopped by their front doors last week (June 1-7) to drop off a bundle of new equipment for them.

The sports packages, which were funded by the school, included skipping ropes, footballs, and hula hoops – and even some bubbles for the nursery pupils.

The new equipment will all be used by youngsters as they take part in the school's virtual sports week this week (June 8-12).

Jackie McKay, principal teacher at Park Primary School, told the Advertiser: "The kids didn't know [about the sports packages] until we turned up at their doors with them.

"I think they were just overwhelmed."

As well as being a treat for all the youngsters, and enabling them to take part in the virtual sports week from home, the packages also help bring a sense of normality back into their lives.

Ms McKay said: "We had to still make sure the kids feel like they're at school.

"It's different, totally different for them, and they're not used to this."

But, she added that hopefully, with the sports packages, pupils will all have "a wee bit of positivity" about going back to school – whenever that may be.
