AN ALLOA boy was proud as punch after his parents held a graduation ceremony to celebrate his move up to primary school.

Bryce Kyle "graduated" from Park Primary School's nursery on Friday, June 5.

The five-year-old's parents arranged the ceremony for him, which included the customary graduation photo complete with him wearing a mortarboard hat.

Explaining how the whole thing came about, mum Nadine told the Advertiser: "We would have been having a graduation ceremony at nursery.

"But because they are not going back, we decided to set up one at the house."

By holding one at home, the family could still have all the "pictures and memories" to look back on.

And it seems the idea of a home-based graduation might now be catching on.

Nadine said: "What's happened is we thought of it for Bryce, but a couple of nursery parents messaged us so we're going to set up pictures of all the kids and we're going to make a collage of them together."

When asked how young Bryce found his ceremony, Nadine said: "He was really excited.

"He has been a bit nervous about starting school; also, he feels older now, because he's past nursery.

"We explained to him it's the last time he'll have his nursery uniform on, and I think he's more-proud now that he's done it."

Advertiser readers may recognise Bryce as the youngster who walked back and forth across the Forth Road Bridge last May.

Aged just four at the time, Bryce completed the lengthy walk to raise money for his nursery – and he ended up bringing in more than £100 in donations.

Bryce could not wait to help out by raising funds to help improve his nursery's garden, and at the time, Nadine said: "Bryce is having such a good time at this lovely wee nursery.

"We're so proud of him."
