A MAN has nabbed food from a local charity supporting Wee County families.

Alva Development Trust (ADT) has released CCTV showing a man arriving at the Cochrane Hall at 6.55am on Friday, June 19, and making off with dairy products.

The items were set to be handed to “families in need” later that day.

A post on the charity’s Facebook page said: “We have reviewed our CCTV carefully and this gentleman comes to our hall from one direction with a hood up, then learns he can’t carry all the yoghurts or milk so uses his jumper as a bag then leaves in a different direction.

“With the volume this man has taken, we will not be able to provide fresh milk and yoghurts to all our families in need today which is the worst thing about this.

“We do have the full video and can see the gentleman was very happy as he left with our produce.”

And a previous post from the group said: "We are so disheartened.

"We are a charity that relies on community spirit to run so this truly hurts those that rely on our service."

A still image from the CCTV footage has been released by the group, and anyone who recognises the man responsible for taking the items has been asked to send a message to ADT on Facebook.

ADT is a volunteer-led charitable organisation, established back in 2018 in order to meet the needs of the town’s residents.
