A MAN was rushed to hospital after he was pounced on by a pair of brutes inside a North Lanarkshire park. 

The 49-year-old was in Calder Park, Motherwell, at around 5pm on Friday when he was attacked by two men. 

The pair were talking to him and then attacked him with a bladed weapon.

Emergency services attended and the man was taken to University Hospital, Wishaw where he was treated for his injuries.  He has since been released.

There is limited information on the suspects at this stage

One is white, around 5 ft. 8 inches in height, with a  slim build and short, dark coloured hair. 

The second suspect is white, around 5 ft. 6 inches in height, with a stocky build and dark coloured hair.

Detective Constable Alison Thomson said: "We are unsure what the motive is for this attack.  I am appealing for the other people who were in Calder Park around the time of the incident to contact us with any information. 

"Perhaps you saw the men approach the victim or saw the two suspects run off.  If you have any information or details which could assist our investigation, please do get in touch.

"Any small piece of information could be significant as we continue our enquiries.”
