A WEE COUNTY boy has raised hundreds of pounds for Lochies School by chopping all his hair off.

Alva's Evan Harrison, 8, managed to raise a total of £660 in donations – which was recently handed over to the school.

Based in Sauchie, Lochies supports the education and wellbeing of children who have severe and complex physical additional support needs.

And raising funds for the institution was a cause close to Evan's heart, as his younger brother Blair, 6, attends Lochies and will be going into P2 after summer.

Mum Claire told the Advertiser more about how the fundraiser came about.

She said: "Evan had raised money before, and because he was shaving his hair down so low, thought they might as well raise money while he was doing it."

Lochies School has a number of facilities for its pupils, such as a sensory room, therapy room and soft play area.

And Claire hoped the money raised by her son might help cover the costs of such specialist facilities.

She said: "A lot of the equipment costs a lot of money – like for sensory play."

When asked how Evan felt when he realised how much money he had raised, she said: "Ecstatic.

"I think he was happy when he got to £300, and it was rising more and more until it was like 'oh my god'."

Claire added she was thrilled to watch her son support a good cause for no other purpose than to help his younger brother.

She said: "It does make me feel really proud, because it's just the three of us in the house.

"It's nice to see the bond that Evan and Blair have."
