MEMBERS of the senior section at Braehead Golf Club have raised hundreds of pounds for a Scout group in the Wee County.

Those playing in the Ochil Shield winter competition have been collecting donations for the nearby Tullibody Scout Group.

A cheque for £508 was recently handed over to district commissioner George Burnett by club members Michael Fraser and Malcolm Spiers as well as Ian Wood of the Grill@Braehead, following some delay owing to the coronavirus outbreak.

Mr Wood, caterer at the club, has been supporting the charity drive by offering a light lunch for the weekly winner in the winter competition with members donating as they played each week.

Not only that, the overall winner was treated to a meal for four at the club's eatery.

It is understood the Tullibody Scout Group will use the donation to provide equipment and implement safety precautions as preparations are made for the return of scouting.

The money will also help leaders in offering a more interactive programme through digital technology with the aim of developing young people's skills for life.
