ALLOA'S favourite Italian restaurant is looking to serve up a treat al fresco from next month.

Bar Aldo's was last week granted an occasional license to open up its rear ground area for families to enjoy a meal and a drink together.

Restaurant proprietor Aldo Pia is affectionately naming the area Vienna's Terrazza after his granddaughter.

He highlighted it should not be considered and classified as a beer garden, rather a place where people can enjoy quality food, a glass of wine and some great company.

The occasional license for the rear area at the Coalgate premises goes live in August and according to documents submitted to Clackmannanshire Council, there will be five tables available seating up to four people each.

Aldo explained to the Advertiser he will not take bookings for Vienna's Terrazza as the weather can be unpredictable.

More details are set to be revealed next month closer to opening, people can keep up to date with announcements on Bar Aldo's official Facebook page in the meantime.

During lockdown, the popular family business had to close its doors, but the Pias were quick to innovate as the crisis hit.

Head chef Giovanni was in the kitchen early in the morning in March to supply residents of Alloa with fresh bread and pasta.

And while the family never imagined they would have to close the doors for an extended time since serving their first meal 13 years ago, they vowed to be back better than ever.

Since then, Bar Aldo's was able to restart home deliveries with some of its meals while Giovanni's latest innovation was the DIY pasta boxes sent straight to people's homes, which have been proving popular.

Meanwhile, it is understood the restaurant's Sabrina has been working to launch a cocktail menu as lockdown slowly eases, following the successful completion of her training.

Aldo wanted to thank all the customers who have supported the business throughout the pandemic through the deliveries.

More details on when and how the restaurant is re-opening are expected to come early in August.
