CHILDMINDERS in the Wee County have been praised by the Care Inspectorate for their excellent work.

In two recent reports, the watchdog commended Menstrie's Lynn Stark and Alva's Mairi Pass for their services.

Both childminders received visits from the inspectorate either late last year or earlier this year – and both impressed their visitors.

They were each graded with a five (very good) for their quality of care and support, and quality of environment; and a four (good) for their quality of management and leadership.

Lynn's inspection report said: "The childminder offers the children and their parents a good standard of service in a friendly manner.

"Children benefited from taking part in activities within a caring and nurturing environment.

"The childminder ensured that children felt comfortable and safe with her and supported children's interests by providing games and activities that they enjoy."

The report for Mairi read: "We found that the childminder provided a child centred experience for the children in her care.

"She placed a great deal of emphasis on encouraging the children to be fully involved in all aspects of her service."
