THE Ochil Mountain Rescue Team (OMRT) rescued a hillwalker last week after they were hurt near the summit of Dumyat.

Last Thursday, August 6, the walker sustained an injury to their lower leg and became unable to descend the hill.

The walker then phoned police who deployed the OMRT to the hill before bringing the casualty to safety.

A statement from the rescue organisation said: "The team was called out by Police Scotland to assist a walker with a lower leg injury near to the summit of Dumyat.

"A hasty party was deployed onto the hill to provide medical assistance to the casualty while other team members followed behind with our rescue equipment.

"The casualty was then packaged in our rescue stretcher, carried off the hill and handed over to the Scottish Ambulance Service.

"This walker did exactly the right thing when realising they were in need of assistance. They called 999, asked for the police then mountain rescue.

"As always we wish the casualty a speedy recovery."

Meanwhile, OMRT has issued a warning about popular walking routes around the Wee County following last week's heavy rainfall.

Paths including Mill Glen and Alva Glen have become hazardous and the rescue group has warned urged caution if anyone wishes to use them.

A statement on their Facebook page read: "Following the very heavy rain we have been made aware of a number of hazards in the local area.

"Due to our local geography we have some very technical gorges in the Ochils which can become hazardous after heavy rain.

"We would expect that the likes of Dollar and Alva Glen may be affected as well as other paths in the local area.

"If you are venturing out as the weather gets better please follow the warning signs, and if the path you want to use is closed choose another and stay safe.

"For anyone who uses these areas for canyoning it would be advisable to check out the condition of the gorge before your next trip."
