MORE women are dying with coronavirus than men in Clackmannanshire, data shows.

Statistics from National Records of Scotland (NRS) show 29 women and 19 men have died with the virus in Clacks as of August 2, the latest date for which data is available.

The ages of those who died varied, with the youngest woman aged 50-54, and the youngest man aged 45-49.

Nobody below the age of 45 has died with Covid-19 in the Wee County.

In keeping with national trends, the data shows those aged 75 and above are at the greatest risk of dying with the virus.

Indeed, seven women aged between 80-84 have died with the virus locally, and another seven aged between 90-94.

For men, the age range with the most record deaths was 80-84 – as six deaths were recorded within that age range.

In total, 48 deaths have been linked to Covid-19 in Clackmannanshire as of August 2.

Of those 48 deaths, 35 occurred in care homes, 12 in hospital, and one at a home or other non-institutional setting.
