PLANNING permission has been granted for a residential development which will see 73 new homes built in Sauchie.

The plans were submitted to Clackmannanshire Council last year by Alloa Golf Club with a view to building the properties next to their Schawpark course.

Council officials have now rubberstamped the application meaning the area will soon be home to 37 new apartments, six detached houses, eight semi-detached houses, six terraced houses, 16 cottage flats, new access points, landscaping and the re-organisation of the existing club car park.

As reported in the Advertiser last year, it is understood the development will take place on a vacant greenfield on a 2.76-hectare site.

According to drawings, the dwellings would be erected between the northern boundary of the course's ground and the fairway and green for the first hole.

The car park for golfers and the putting green would be relocated nearer to the club house and pro shop and a SUDS pond would also be created.

As part of the works, the car park will see an extra 165 new spaces, up from the existing 115.

In their application last year, the golf club stated that they will invest proceeds from the sale of the land towards a package of long term improvements to the course and facilities, providing the club with financial stability as well as enhanced facilities for the local community to enjoy.

The development will also see an upgraded footpath to nearby Deerpark Primary School, traffic calming on the A908 and a financial contribution towards the creation of affordable housing elsewhere in Clackmannanshire.

A spokesperson for Alloa Golf Club said: “We are delighted to have achieved the above detailed planning permission, which will now enable much needed forward planning and inward investment in the club in the years to come.

“The club also wish to thank all parties who have contributed/assisted throughout the process.”
