COMMUNITY flood volunteers are needed in the Hillfoots.

The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) group is on the lookout for locals in Alva and Tillicoultry, willing to spare some time to keep their area safe.

An advertisement from the group said: “Simply select your route from the pre-set 'high risk' areas and walk/cycle/run along your set route as regularly as you can commit to.

“Provide a short report of an issues and some photos - this data allows us to work with Clackmannanshire Council to identify hotspot areas, work towards mitigation and removal of blockages and urgent issues.

“Our aim is to work towards more resilient communities with the help of our local flood monitors, especially as we move further into Autumn.”

Previous knowledge of the subject isn't required, as full training, equipment and guidance will be provided.

According to its website, TCV “works with communities to deliver practical solutions to the real-life challenges they face”.

Their appeal for volunteers comes just weeks after parts of Clackmannanshire were hit with severe flooding.
