STORIES from the Hillfoots are set to come to life once again as part of a string of events this weekend.

Whispering Waters, an event being held as part of the Scottish International Storytelling Festival (SISF) In the Flow, is set to go ahead online this Saturday, October 24.

The storytelling afternoon will feature the Wee County's Joanne Dowd, Susan Chown and Janet Crawford, part of the Creative Hillfoots informal collective.

Jo said: "This is our third year running, performing as part of the SISF at a time when it couldn't be more difficult.

"Unfortunately, we have had to adapt our programme at the very last minute due to Covid-19 restrictions.

"As always, we will do our very best to fire your imaginations with four more stories of ghostly passengers, derelict houses, heartbroken maidens, princes, fairies, witches, a wretched miller and of course whispering waters."

This week has already seen one event with Jo and Susan bringing some ghostly tales to audiences on Monday.

Today, Wednesday, October 21, will see a Spooky Story Walk in pictures with Jack Stravaiger.

Thursday, October 22, will again see Jo and Susan in an event with Behind the Story before the flagship online event on Saturday.

Jo added: "All our stories are set in our fabulous Hillfoots, locations that locals will know well and maybe those of you from further afield will be inspired to visit.

"This year is going to be very different to what we did before in the Coach House theatre, Alloa.

"This year we have been filming on location and in our homes and will be taking our programme online for the very first time."

Indeed, members have been out and about in all kinds of weather, sometimes in the dead of the night, and often standing in freezing cold water to take promotional photographs, courtesy of Patricia Brannigan.

Susan and Jack, along with Patricia, are recent additions to the Creative Hillfoots collective.

Jo added: "We are also fortunate to have the support of local business. A special mention and our thanks must go to our graphic artist Heather Ann Dowd who has supported us over the last three years.

"But most importantly we'd like to extend out thanks all our audience members who have attended our events and followers on our Hillfoots Tales Facebook page."
