EMERGENCY services are in attendance at a property in Tillicoultry dealing with a suspected fire.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) is currently working at an address the community council has identified as 48 Moss Road.

A spokesperson for SFRS said: “We were alerted at 1.21pm on Friday, October 30, to reports of smoke coming from a derelict building on Moss Road, Tillicoultry, Clackmannanshire.

“Operations Control mobilised four appliances and one aerial rescue pump to the scene.

“Firefighters are currently in attendance.

“There are no reported casualties.”

Moss Road is closed at Murray Square and Sterling Mills while emergency services work to bring the situation under control.

As the Advertiser has previously reported, 48 Moss Road is an abandoned property which police recently pledged to monitor following reports of young people entering the building.

The property in question was also on the receiving end of a bespoke Clackmannanshire Council cut in 2018.

Its mystery owner had failed to comply with a High Hedge Notice, which was served by the local authority following community intervention.

At the time the property lay empty and no one in the town is sure who it actually belongs to.

The hedge had grown so high it almost completely obscured the street frontage of house before the notice was served.

However, it is understood the area's community council has since learnt the name of the property's owner, although not much is known about them.

More to follow.
