AN ALLOA man has been remanded in custody after appearing in court over allegations of robbery and attempted robbery.

Michael Douglas made a first appearance on petition today (Monday, November 9) at Falkirk Sheriff Court.

He faces eight charges, including assault and robbery, robbery, three counts of attempted robbery, vandalism, possessing a bladed article in public and possessing a controlled drug.

During the private court hearing this week, the 24-year-old made no plea, and was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.

He will appear in court again within eight days.

Ahead of Douglas' court appearance, Forth Valley Police Division issued a statement from chief inspector Audrey Marsh.

She said: "Officers in Alloa have arrested and charged a 24-year-old man in connection with several robberies and attempted robberies in the area.

"The incidents took place around Sunnyside Court and the West End Park areas, between 11.45am and 7pm on Friday, November 6."
