THE annual Senior Citizen's Christmas Party in Clackmannan will be unable to go ahead this year due to coronavirus.

Despite all the effort and hard work done in preparation, Clackmannan Community Council this month announced that it will be unable to go ahead with the annual party amid tight Covid-19 regulations.

The party, as covered by the Advertiser in previous years, has been a staple in the festive calendar for many older adults around Clackmannan, Kennet and Forrestmill.

It has seen a Christmas lunch, entertainment and a wee dram provided for around 120 folks along with an opportunity to share a natter and meet up with old friends.

The community council told the Advertiser: "2020 for everyone has been a very different year to previous years, events having to be cancelled despite all the effort and hard work done in preparation. Clackmannan Community Council is no different in that due to Government Guidelines they are unable to host the annual Senior Citizen’s Christmas Party for 2020.

And while members of the community council are heartbroken they are unable to host the event this year due to the ongoing restrictions amid a rising number of cases across the central belt, there are hopes the spring of 2021 could be different.

Indeed, it is hoped that if guidelines change, the community council could possible host an event then.

The community council added: "It is hoped that if guidelines change we could possibly host an event in spring 2021 – watch this space."
