A TILLICOULTRY family is growing moustaches and building hampers for their local community to help those in need this Christmas.

Will Little and his two sons-in-law Jordan and Ryan are growing moustaches while his daughters Gemma and Sara are helping the family production line create hampers to donate to their local foodbank, the Tillicoultry Community Larder.

All hampers will be made up and donated to the Tillicoultry Baptist Church, who run the larder, and they will then decide who receives the donations.

Will said: "We came up with the idea to do some charity work for Movember, me and my two sons-in-law so we're all growing moustaches of different designs.

"We're doing well and because my two daughters are right into social media, they put up a link to say we're doing Movember and we came up with the idea to do Christmas hampers.

"We've been collecting food parcels from various people, not just your standard food parcel but a festive treat to lift people's spirits over the Christmas period, again because we've got this Covid thing.

"It's lifted our spirits and it's lifted the people who's donating's spirits."

Will explained how what began as a family effort has expanded to friends and family all chipping in to help out.

He continued: "We've got friends and family doing raffles and making things to do raffles, and, frankly, we've got hundreds of stuff.

"We'll do a production line making up and designing hampers, just to give out to people in our community who are in need and to lift their spirits throughout this pandemic and just to make people's lives a wee bit better."

Initiatives such as these are always greatly appreciated at this time of year; however, after the impact of Covid-19, Will believes it's even more necessary now.

He said: "It's raising people's spirits who are donating as well, they're making a contribution in this pandemic to people who might not necessarily have that special something at Christmas.

"I'm amazed. You see stories on the telly where people say we'll do this wee thing and it ends up mushrooming, well this has mushroomed itself. I set out and said if we can get 10 hampers that'll be amazing.

"Well, we're going to have a lot more than 10 hampers."

Anybody who is interested in making a food donation can drop-off to the Tillicoultry Baptist Church Annex on Murray Square between 2-4pm on Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays.
