AN OUTBREAK of coronavirus at a Wee County care home has been confirmed after a number of residents and staff tested positive.

There have been a number of positive tests for coronavirus at Sauchie's Beechwood Park Care Home, NHS Forth Valley confirmed.

A spokeswoman for the health board said: “NHS Forth Valley’s Test and Protect team is currently carrying out Covid-19 contact tracing after a number of residents and staff at Beechwood Park Care Home at Sauchie, near Alloa, have tested positive for coronavirus.

“Those affected are isolating and further tests are being carried out on both staff and residents within the home.

“To respect and maintain patient confidentiality, no further details will be given.”

The Advertiser understands a number of residents have tested positive last week.

Dr Henry Prempeh, consultant in public health at NHS Forth Valley, added: “NHS Forth Valley continues to work closely with the home management to provide advice and support.

“We would like to take the opportunity to remind everyone of the importance of following the national guidance to minimise the risk of Covid-19 to themselves and others.

“This includes physical distancing indoors and outdoors, washing your hands regularly, using hand gel where appropriate and arranging to get tested immediately if any symptoms appear.”
