A KINCARDINE man has admitted a succession of sex offences against children between 1975 and 1988.

John Smith, of Windyhill Avenue, used lewd, indecent and libidinous practices towards girls aged nine and 14 in Dunfermline and Newmills.

At Dunfermline Sheriff Court, Smith admitted that on various occasions between December 15, 1975, and November 2, 1978, at a house in Macbeth Road, Dunfermline, he performed a sex act in the presence of the 14-year-old.

He also admitted that on various occasions between September 2, 1986, and September 1, 1988, at Main Street, Newmills, he deliberately exposed himself in her presence.

Smith further admitted that on various occasions between January 1, 1979, and December 31, 1981, at Macbeth Road, he exposed himself, touched himself and performed a sex act in the presence of the nine-year-old girl.

Defence solicitor Gordon Martin said: "He's deeply ashamed."

Sheriff Charles Macnair called for reports and put Smith on the sex offenders' register.

Bail was granted and Smith, 67, will be sentenced on January 20.
