A YELLOW warning for snow and ice has been issued by the Met Office for tomorrow morning onwards.

Clacks Council have already been preparing for the weather, carrying out widespread gritting operations today, January 12, and conditions will be continue to be monitored and action taken using all available council resources.

Residents are reminded to  take care when out walking and drive to the conditions.

A council spokesperson said: “Our operations are prioritised to treat Priority 1 and 2 roads and footpaths, which includes the strategic road network such as routes for emergency services, main urban traffic routes and major bus service routes.”

The Met Office’s website warns of possible travel delays on roads stranding some vehicles and passengers, especially across higher routes, with potential for road closures.

There may also be possible delays or cancellations to rail and air travel and power cuts may occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected.
