TWO Wee County areas are in the highest coronavirus infection category while one area has “suppressed” the virus.

The Scottish Government’s neighbourhood map shows which council wards are worst hit by Covid-19 to a weekly average based on a population per 100,000 people.

For the week up to and including January 17, the most recent data available, there are two wards in Clackmannanshire in the highest category of 400+ cases per 100,000 people.

Those two wards are Clackmannan, Kennet, Forestmill, and Alloa South and East.

In the second highest category, with an infection rate of 200-399, are Fishcross, Devon Village and Coalsnaughton, Tullibody South, Alloa West, Tillicoultry, Alloa North, Sauchie, and Tullibody North and Glenochil.

Dollar and Muckhart, and Menstrie are both in the next category with an infection rate of 100-199.

Alva is the only Wee County area that has “suppressed” the virus.
