ANIMAL welfare inspectors have closed their case at a Wee County property after concerns were raised by the community.

As previously reported, The Scottish SPCA said it was working with the owner at a property in the vicinity of its National Wildlife Rescue Centre in Fishcross, after Clacks residents raised concerns over the welfare of horses there.

Inspectors today (Thursday, February 4) confirmed to the Advertiser that the case is now closed.

A spokeswoman said: “The Scottish SPCA [can confirm] the matter is now closed.”

Concerns over the welfare of the horses were raised recently and at the time, the animal welfare charity explained that “sadly, a horse which had been under veterinary inspection did pass away on the premises”.

Inspectors added that they were working with the owner to ensure the welfare of animals.

After the Scottish SPCA confirmed the matter is closed, the owner told the Advertiser: “My horses' welfare is and always will be my top priority.

“I have had non-stop harassment over the past few months.

“I suffer from anxiety; the situation recently with false allegations and harassment has been a total nightmare for my mental health.

“The SPCA officers have been wonderful, I fully support them as a charity and the fact they need to investigate when they get a call.”
