ALLOA has a proud heritage and the history of the old harbour holds a special place in the heart of the town.
Its inception dates back around 500 years or so and the docklands swelled and prospered through the 17th and 18th centuries.
The harbour serviced the main industries in the area, including the Glassworks as well as numerous breweries and collieries around Clacks.
However, the 1900s would see the downfall of the harbour. The Great War and the building of the Kincardine Bridge in 1936 were mentioned as factors.
The docks were officially closed in the 1960s.
