A CRAFT box initiative in the Wee County is looking to offer fun activities for young people during the February school holiday.

The award-winning Crafty Kids team at Clackmannanshire's Resilience Learning Partnership, who proved to be a lifeline for many in lockdown, have put on sale their February Break Boxes with a chance for people to order some over the weekend.

A limited number of kits, which contain five different crafts, are on sale for £7.99 plus postage and orders have been flowing in during the week.

Shumela Ahmed, managing director at the Resilience Learning Partnership, told the Advertiser: “We are trying to generate a bit of income from it, really just to keep that core team employed.

“My colleague Melanie [Mitchell] came up with the idea of doing school holiday inspired boxes.”

The Crafty Kids team, who had delivered thousands of of craft boxes and self-care packages in the Wee County during lockdown, were previously recognised for their efforts at Clackmannanshire Third Sector Interface's annual awards ceremony.

The February Break Boxes are set to be sent out early next week, between February 7 and 10.

Many who have been ordering the boxes this week have shown their generosity by paying ahead for those less fortunate.

Shumela said: “Quite a few of them have been for their own child and donating one, we are still able to do the buy one donate one scheme.

“People in Clacks will still be able to get them for free and we are still giving our [regular] boxes away for free but these little packs are new, a new idea and a new way to just try generate a little bit of income from the boxes so we can keep it going.”
