A DRUG dealer facing jail time after being caught with thousands of pounds of cannabis in his bedroom and hundreds of pounds in notes hidden in a TV unit.

Matthew Allen's home in Menstrie was raided on two occasions, Falkirk Sheriff Court was told.

A "systematic" search revealed more than 425 grammes of herbal cannabis and in "numerous containers" and nearly 17.5 grammes of active ingredient Tetrahydrocannabinol in his bedroom.

The search, on March 7, 2019, also turned up an envelope containing £1480 in cash

Prosecutor Cheryl Clerk said: "A Samsung phone was found in the bedroom which contained messages dating back to January 5, 2019, suggesting the accused was involved in the supply of cannabis.

"He was interviewed and confirmed the cannabis was his."

A further search was carried out on June 21 2019, when police found shrink-wrap bags and a vacuum sealer with Allen's fingerprints on them.

Four jars of Tetrahydrocannabinol, £1970 in cash in a TV unit, two empty tubes labelled "cannabis cigars", another 134 grammes of cannabis, and preparation equipment, were also found.

The court heard the cannabis recovered in the two searches was worth up to £5280.

Allen, 25, pleaded guilty on indictment on Tuesday, February 23, to being concerned in the supply of cannabis and Tetrahydrocannabinol at his home in Park Road, Menstrie.

Solicitor Laura Jackson, defending, said: "The offence is a serious one, but it's of some age now."

Sheriff Christopher Shead deferred sentence until March 18 and remanded Allen in custody.

Explaining his decision to revoke bail, said: "The nature of the offence is such that I can see no realistic prospect of your avoiding a custodial sentence."

Allen was told he is also facing action under the Proceeds of Crime Act, to seize his ill-gotten gains.
