Tullibody couple's lockdown performances prove a big hit

John and Tricia Allan’s Facebook videos have been enjoyed by family and friends throughout the lockdown weekends and they’re proving to be the best entertainment on offer at the moment.

John said: “It’s actually been crazy.

“Our first night, obviously you’re bored with nothing to do, can’t go anywhere and it’s spiralled out of control.

“The amount of people putting requests in and asking when the show’s on, it’s frightening.

“It’s into the thousands now.”

John explained how the idea came from the couple looking for something to do during the lockdown weekends after a week of work.

He continued: “It’s just the lockdown, I’m a factory manager working 12 hours a day Monday to Friday and my wife’s a supervisor at Lornshill Academy.

“It gets to the weekend, usually we’d go away for the night or go and do things but you’re just stuck in the house and can’t do anything.”

The reception has been so positive John’s even been stopped by people in the street and in supermarkets saying how much they’re enjoying their performances, with one person hailing him the ‘Facebook sensation’.

The first video featured a mop and some tinfoil but now the props include a blow-up guitar and microphone and songs range from Aqua and Elton John to ZZ Top and the Proclaimers.

“It’s an unbelievable reaction we’ve had so far and it keeps people happy,” John continued. “We’re getting comments saying it’s better than Ant and Dec.

“It’s just to get through lockdown and make a few people happy, you’re wanting to give people a wee bit of joy.

“It was one night for the family on Facebook [to begin with] but the reception’s been brilliant.

“We’re all trying to get through it the best we can, if we can have a laugh with a few other people  then that’s good.

“It’s purely just to keep everybody entertained and happy on a Saturday night through lockdown and hopefully it’s not too long until we’re out of it.”
